Good Humor

Last night we had the opportunity to feed the missionaries at our house. Unfortunately, one of the Elders happened to have a blemish on his lip. The unfortunate part was that Jacob noticed. After dinner Jacob walked over and said, "What's that? You have an owie? You need a band aid?" He then ran inside to find a band aid. I helped Jacob get them down and gave him a choice of spider man, scooby doo, or dora the explorer. He chose Dora. The great thing is that the Elder had a great sense of humor about the whole thing! He wore the band aid the rest of the night and let Jacob take his picture.

Ga-head!

Just in case you didn't know, that is how you say "Go ahead" in New Jersey talk. This past weekend we went up to Jersey to visit my cousin and help celebrate her boys birthdays. They threw a b-day party and we got to experience a true Jersey accent. It was hilarious.
We got there Friday evening and the kids had a great time playing in the back yard. As soon as the water hose came on, Zoe got naked. She loves playing in the water!

I love this picture of Zachary. Once the kids found the trampoline, it was hard to get them off of it!

Zoe wasn't really sure how to hit the pinata. She was very lady like and tapped it a few times.
Jacob was a little bit better off.

After nap time on Saturday we took the kids to the beach. Unfortunately, it was a bit chilly and threatening rain the whole time we were there. That didn't stop us from having a great time. Zoe loved taking sand to the water and dumping it in. Zachary and Jacob playing with the dump trucks.

The boys all decided they wanted to be buried in the sand. We learned later that it was because that was the best way to stay warm. Poor Adam got soaked by a wave and was freezing.

Brandon put so much sand on Jacob he couldn't get out on his own.Zoe started to bury herself but this is about as far as she got.

We had so much fun this weekend and are so glad to have some family close to us!

Uncle Ernie

This past week my brother Ernie was in DC for a meeting. We took the train into Union Station and had dinner with him there. I don't know what Jacob liked more, the train ride or seeing Uncle Ernie. It was great to see family!

They both wanted to sit next to Uncle Ernie.

On the train. By the way, I needed a change so I cut my hair off. I think it was 5 or 6 inches. I love it!!

Aren't Zoe's pigtails cute. Her hair is getting so long...considering that she was pretty bald last summer.

Meet Peyton Douglass

We had an ultrasound this morning and here are the most recent pictures of our little boy. Jacob keeps asking me when his baby brother will be here and Zoe just hugs and kisses my belly. Seeing these pictures makes me realize how much we need to do before he gets here! Yikes!

A Great Day!

Today has been a relaxing, fun, quality family time day! It has been raining off and on all week and we have done every crafting project I can think of. Today started off with everything going wrong while I was fixing breakfast and I found myself starting the day off very angry. While the kids and I prayed to bless the food we also prayed that Mommy would have patience and a good day. I am amazed at how my day turned around! I gave up on trying to have a structured craft or activity and we had a movie day instead. I got out the kids tent and set it up in the living room with pillows and blankets. We have eaten cookies, popcorn, marshmallows, sandwiches and mac and cheese. Brandon also surprised me by coming home for the day at 12:45. The laundry is not done, the beds are not made, the living room is a mess...this is the greatest day! I love our home and the little family in it.

Zoe's Top 10

  1. Belly button-some kids have their blankies, Zoe has her belly button. We call it her sleepy button. As soon as she starts playing with it, we know it is bed time.

  2. Pink puppy-Brandon's Mom gave Zoe this puppy when she was born and it has been in her bed ever since. It is so cute to see her going to bed playing with her belly button and holding her puppy around the neck.

  3. Jumping on the bed...any bed-She loves to do seat drops and belly flops.

  4. Shoes-she steals my shoes any chance she gets! Her favorite time to take my shoes is at church, which makes it a bit difficult for me.

  5. Singing-She loves to sing in the car at the top of her lungs and at church even when no one else is singing.

  6. Chocolate-she is her Mother's daughter.

  7. Jacob-she and Jacob play so well together. Their favorite thing right now is to water the garden. Each of them have a spray bottle and it always ends in a water fight. They think it is absolutely hilarious.

  8. Dogs, mainly Shooter-she loves to lay on him while he is sleeping. Depending on her mood, she also likes to scare him awake by jumping on him and laughing hysterically when he jumps up.

  9. The baby-any time she jumps on me I tell her, "Be nice to the baby." She immediately kisses and hugs my belly. She tries to talk to the baby as well but I have no idea what she is saying.

  10. Playing outside-it doesn't matter if she is dressed or not, she will run outside if the door is open. She ran outside one night after her bath because I left the door open when letting the dogs out. Thank goodness she didn't sit down in the grass.

These are in no particular order and there are a ton more but these are the first 10 things Brandon and I thought of.

Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend my cousin Jena and her family came down from New Jersey to visit. Our kids are only a few months apart and they had a great time together. Adam and Jacob were two peas in a pod. We had the two of them sleeping in the same room and it was hilarious to see how late they stayed up and what kind of stories they came up with. My favorite was the Scooby Doo Green Ghost was in the closet. Brandon and Jena went to check on them and Jacob had a terrified look on his face while Adam just kept saying, "Green ghost is in the closet!" All day the next day they ran around with their nerf guns trying to shoot the "green ghost."

On Saturday we went to Annapolis. We got to look at all the boats, eat ice cream and play at the park. Annapolis has so much to see I am excited to go back.

On Monday, we found an area on base that had lots of tanks and some room for the kids to run around. We then went home to celebrate Zoe's 2nd birthday.

Seriously two peas in a pod. Neither one of them like singing.

By the end of the weekend I think everyone was exhausted!
